Nearly 300 state employees in Virginia have quit due to Governor Glenn Youngkin’s in-office return requirements. In May, Glenn Youngkin made the announcement that state workers would return to the office come July 5th. Even as employees have been told to return to the office, Youngkin’s administration has made it clear that it will support “the use of telework where appropriate.”
“We have an incredible workforce serving the commonwealth every day and we’re so excited to welcome them back to the office.”
Glenn Youngkin said.
9,866 state employees had originally applied for telework in Virginia. Out of 21,314, this is nearly half. 90% of those filing sought just a day or two out of office. 1,046 employees were later granted 3-4 days/week of remote work.
