Volodymyr Zelenskyy has opened a criminal investigation into an explosion of a grenade during a children’s event that ended in the wounding of several people in Chernihiv. Fifteen people, eight of those being children, were wounded in the “accident” at an unplanned exhibition of military equipment.
"Two people who were directly involved in the tragic incident in Chernihiv were detained on suspicion of committing a criminal offense. The State Bureau of Investigation is carrying out criminal proceedings."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The administration of Chernihiv has to be informed of any military presence at the event. Viacheslav Chaus, the head of the Chernihiv Regional Administration, said, "If there had been a message that there would be soldiers, then we would have intervened in the situation and the military would not have taken part in such events.”
