A former News Commentator, a Celebrity Doctor, and a former Hedge Fund CEO run for Senate... How's it looking?
Have you seen an advertisement of any sort for Kathy Barnette? Have you heard of her? She's destroying the polls!
If you live in PA, I am sure you’ve seen the commercials for Dr. Oz. Either for or against him. Have you seen an advertisement of any sort for Kathy Barnette? I haven’t either, and now knowing that she has been outspent 358-1 on TV in PA I can sleep happily knowing why. She is a MAGA fan but lacks Donny J’s endorsement. Furthermore, with all the odds stacked against her, Kathy Barnette (the former news commentator for Fox News) is blasting the polls in the final weeks of one of the most closely watched races in the country.
Two years ago Barnette lost a House bid in Philidelphia by a wide margin, and some thought this would be the point at which she turned away her hopes of securing a state-level political career. However, she chose to tackle politics at the throat: Pennsylvania State Senate.
“Barnette’s apparent rise is surprising just because of the lack of notoriety or resources compared to some of the other candidates in that race.”
Brian Nutt, a PA Republican strategist said.
Oz (celebrity doctor) and McCormick (former hedge fund CEO) are going after each other throats while ignoring the elephant in the room: Barnette’s zeal, compelling life story, and her ability to relate to grassroots voters of the Republican party.
“Stunning polling coming out last night. … Oz and McCormick combined, I think, have spent $24 million, combined. $24 million! … And she’s basically in a dead heat.”
Steve Bannon said in awe as he hosted Barnette onto his “War Room: Pandemic” podcast yesterday.
“They’re spending $50 million on ads. That is their campaign. Unless there’s some high-falutin’ press conference or debates or events to go to, it’s overwhelmingly on television. And it’s these plastic, little run-of-the-mill political ads.”
Barnette said in response to her opponents.
“I think it’s real. I’ve had grassroots political people tell me for a while that when there are candidate forums, she’s the one who has the most enthusiasm. And what was said about her was, ‘Boy, I really like her, but she can’t win.’ With Oz and McCormick just savaging each other, they wind up with high negatives. All of a sudden, you’re like, ‘Well, why not vote for her? I do really like her.’”
Chris Mottola, a GOP consultant, and Pennsylvania native said.
Senator Doug Mastiano is the front runner of Pennsylvania’s state GOP primary for governor and Barnette and himself have endorsed each other and are currently campaigning alongside each other.
“Her numbers are starting to line up with Mastriano’s. He endorsed her and she endorsed him, and I said at the time she got the better of that deal.”
Said Christopher Nicholas, a PA-based GOP consultant.
To add to Barnette’s underdog status, a Monmouth University poll conducted in late April found that 18% of Republican voters were “very likely” to back Barnette compared to Oz receiving 22% and McCormick receiving 19% of that vote. Updated numbers from Trafalgar Group show Barnette currently has 23% for that “very likely” vote alongside Oz with 25% and McCormick at 22%.
