According to an Excerpt from The New Yorker, Donald Trump wished his Generals were like “The German generals in World War II.”
Donald Trump also told John Kelly that he didn’t want injured veterans to participate in a memorial parade because it “wouldn’t look good” for him.
Multiple people have claimed that Donald Trump wished to be a dictator. Many have claimed that he wished more to be treated as one. However, at first, glance, not that many points to the conclusion besides his relentless willpower to stay in power. We must all understand that not one quality makes you anything. I may have hair, but I am not a bear…
However, according to an excerpt from a piece published in The New Yorker titles The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021, Donald Trump once told John Kelly, the then Chief of Staff, when speaking of disloyal generals, “You fucking generals, why can’t you be like the German generals?”
In response, John Kelly asked, “Which Generals?” To which Donald Trump said “The German generals in World War II.” Kelly quickly mentioned the assassination attempts against Hitler by his “German Generals,” “You do know that they tried to kill Hitler three times and almost pulled it off?” As an argument seemed to be brewing, Donald Trump concluded, “No, no, no, they were totally loyal to him.”
Since then, Donald Trump has backed his claims and complaints of disloyal generals during his time in office. He said, “These were very untalented people and once I realized it, I did not rely on them, I relied on the real generals and admirals within the system.”
Also, one of the continuous talking points of those who claim Donald Trump was a dictator or those who claim he wished to be so would be his marvel at how the North Korean people treated Kim Jung-un. He even said he wished his “people” would treat him how the North Koreans treat Kim Jung-un.
“He’s the head of a country, and I mean, he’s the strong head, don’t let anyone think anything different. He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.”
Donald Trump added.
According to other stories from the excerpt, Donald Trump told John Kelly that he didn’t want injured veterans to participate in a memorial parade because it “wouldn’t look good” for him.
Trump: “Look, I don’t want any wounded guys in the parade. This doesn’t look good for me.”
Kelly: “Those are the heroes. In our society, there’s only one group of people who are more heroic than they are — and they are buried over in Arlington.”
Trump: “I don’t want them. It doesn’t look good for me.”
