Another Arrest Made in the Colorado Election Security Breach
Sandra Brown was released while Tina Peters and Belinda Knisly await their charges...
Sandra Brown, who worked for the Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, has turned herself in due to an issued warrant for her arrest on suspicion of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation and attempting to influence a public servant. Currently, Tina Peters and Belinda Knisley, her Chief Deputy, are being prosecuted for allowing a copy of a hard drive to be made during an update of election equipment in May 2021.
Officials were made aware of the security breach last summer.
Tina Peters has been one of the many election deniers that come to mind whenever it is mentioned. She lost her bid to become the GOP candidate for Colorado’s Secretary of State last month and is being charged with:
Three counts of attempting to influence a public servant
Criminal impersonation
Two counts of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation
One count of identity theft
First-degree official misconduct
Violation of Duty
Failing to comply with the Secretary of State
Belinda Knisley is being charged with:
Three counts of attempting to influence a public servant
One count of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation
Violation of Duty
Failing to comply with the Secretary of State
Neither Knisley nor Peters have entered a plea and both have dismissed the allegations. Tina Peters has claimed they are strict and “politically motivated.”
