Another case of American Hypocrisy: The U.S. has Imported more Fuel from Russia than the heavily Criticized India
President Biden and his administration, along with European leaders, criticized India but went against their own hate...
As the United States was bashing every single country taking advantage of the discounts given by Russia to purchase oil it turns out that the U.S. has imported more fossil fuels from Russia than India and their European counterparts since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Think-Tank Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air shared a report which shows an uptick in Russian Oil shipments to India and Egypt in the months following the invasion.
"You need to add the shipping cost, insurance, and the war premium, (then find a willing insurer), which doesn't leave much on the table.”
An Indian government official said after claiming the heft discounts are no longer attractive
The initial proposal of a discount came as Russian authorities were willing to offer the discount as they battled sanctions that were yet to apply to energy, food, and pharmaceuticals. Some Indian state-run companies and even private reliance had bought nearly 30 Million barrels of the discounted Russian crude. Of course, this drew the rhetoric of President Biden and other European leaders.
The comedic relief is that the CREA report mentioned earlier pointed out that since two months have passed since the invasion, 71% of the 63 Billion euros worth of fossil fuels exported by Russia were to European countries. Germany topped the list.
"Oil shipments to India, Egypt, and other 'unusual' destinations for Russian exports have attracted a lot of attention, and our data shows a clear pick-up from a base of almost zero. However, the shipments to these new destinations are by far not sufficient to make up for even the modest fall in exports to Europe."
