Bill Gates, an Infectious Disease Doctor at Microsoft, warns that the World has yet to "See the Worst" of the Covid Pandemic
He has warned of these situations before and he may not be wrong again...
The self-acclaimed infectious diseases doctor and Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates claimed that the world has “not seen the worst” of the Covid pandemic yet. At least he eased us into the claim by prefacing with the warning that he does not want to sound “doom and gloom” but continued with his claims by saying “even more transmissive and even more fatal” variants could come about.
The chances of this happening according to Gates is “way above 5%” and with that, he concludes his warnings. It isn’t the first time ol’ Billy boy has made these predictions. In December 2021, he tweeted to his followers that they should brace themselves for the worst parts of the pandemic. In 2015, he cautioned everybody by claiming that the world wasn’t ready for the next pandemic. In a sense, he was eerily right…
The FT had spoken to Gates, and he told them: “We're still at risk of this pandemic generating a variant that would be even more transmissive and even more fatal. It's not likely, I don't want to be a voice of doom and gloom, but it's way above a 5 percent risk that this pandemic, we haven't even seen the worst of it.”
Worldwide it is estimated that Covid has killed nearly 6.2 Million people since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. The case numbers, hospitalizations, and deaths have all been dropping the recent weeks.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the WHO warned that people still needed to be wary of the virus and that decreases in overall testing and Covid surveillance in many countries left the world at risk of a resurgence of the virus. Gates claims to eliminate these worries, some governments are highly suggested to invest in a team of epidemiologists and computer modelers to help identify global health threats in the future.
