Britain’s longest-ruling monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, has passed away at her Balmoral estate in Scotland aged 96. The United Kingdom was graced with her service as the constitutional monarch for 70 years. Her reign as so spanned a great feat of British history as well as was defined by duty to her country as well as family pains. The death of Queen Elizabeth II triggered an outpour of national affection and grief.
The death comes at a critical time in the United Kingdom’s history as the country is transitioning power from Boris Johnson to Liz Truss who has recently taken over the job as the Prime Minister just this week.
Through all of the history Queen Elizabeth II faced while being in her position, she worked to honor a pledge she made as she turned 21. She said, "I declare before you that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service, and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong."
It is redoubtable that through the ups and downs faced by the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II’s hard work and longevity won her the deep admiration from citizens across the U.K.
