According to new research done by a team out of Nanjing University, lunar soil may be the next solution to supporting humans living on the moon. The findings were published in the journal Joule over the weekend and based on samples acquired during a 2021 mission (China’s Chang’e-5).

The mission is said to be the first of its kind in 40 years. The researchers find that lunar soil may help humans explore and inhabit the moon if they could transform CO2 into other resources on a larger scale as done in the study.

China’s achievements in space have been wonderous in the last decade and Elon Musk may be the most excited as it is being found humans inhabit planets and space objects outside of Earth. The Chinese government has even become open to collaboration with the team to explore more of the possibilities the findings give us.

Missions to the moon will most definitely include other countries on the same ships and same stations. In a massive time of uncertainty for humanity, China is pushing to bring the top brains of space together and unify through useful moon knowledge.
