Even as Liz Cheney lost her primary in Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger didn’t run for his primary in Illinois, both have been in the news as of late due to their relentless efforts to bring justice for the January 6th Capitol Riots and their push to get to the bottom of Donald Trump’s involvement in the event.

As they do this, they’re also calling out major problems within the GOP and those who remain loyal to it (in an extreme sense). This brings up the question of if Liz Cheney or Adam Kininger are the future of the GOP or whether are they doomed to lose relevancy.

To put it simply, both of them are the last gasping breath of the Republican party, not its future. The Republicans have claimed victory on multiple goals they set out to achieve except the social ones such as:

Roe has been overturned
Taxes are so low and loopholes are so prevalent with a hard backstop of litigation that the wealthy barely pay anything now

The Republicans own the courts for the next 40 years or so. All they have left to do is pay back the Christian faction with draconian social policies. This is why you see the culture war slowly heating up. The GOP pretty much has achieved what they set out to do beginning with Reagen. Strangely, it’s weird that the GOP is getting so worked up. You’d think with the amount of “success” they’ve had, they’d be more content. However, trans people's existing and divergent ideas have the GOP calling for a new war. Seems odd, and slightly a bit absurd.

Isaac Asimov summed it up proficiently:
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."
