Trump will be Testifying in New York City Today
Donald Trump has made clear that he will be testifying today in a New York investigation by the state’s AG into his business dealings and practices. Letitia James, the New York State Attorney General, will be conducting a civil investigation into whether the Trump Organization illegally inflated real estate values.
Donald Trump Jr and Ivanka Trump have also agreed to testify. Donald himself has denied any wrongdoing and had claimed the investigation as “politically motivated” and backed it up by saying Letitia James is a Democrat.
Ron DeSantis wants a Republican Pension Bloc
Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida, is pushing for pension plans in Republican states in an attempted joint effort to fight shareholder initiatives on issues such as diversity and climate change. In reality, the idea is one that is very difficult to pull off.
Last month, Ron DeSantis gave insight into his push to give the GOP new efforts to fight back against activist-led environmental, governance, and social initiatives. With assets nearly over $5.7 Trillion under the management of the United States, locally defined-benefit pension plans are a powerful shareholder force used to aid activists in passing ESG issues on corporate ballots.
Getting them to vote together as a bloc means that the Florida Governor will have to pull off a few tricks given the Flordia retirement system itself has voted differently on the same issues and have oversight structures that make efforts even more difficult in terms of swaying the voting. Public funds are also rarely the biggest investors in United States companies which leads to more limitations in their swaying ability.
China continues to Apply Pressure in Military Exercises and Threats Aimed at Taiwan
The threat of using military force to annex Taiwan by China has been a threat reaffirmed by China multiple times. The current military exercises taking place give a little bit more raised questions as to whether or not China will follow through.
A policy statement delivered by the Cabinet’s Taiwan Affairs Office and other departments came just a week after extensive and threatening military exercises in the Taiwan Strait. The actions themselves have disrupted flights and shipping and have promoted more backing for Taiwan from Japan, the United States, and more.
According to the Chinese statement, China would “work with the greatest sincerity and exert our utmost efforts to achieve peaceful reunification."
Taiwanese Officials attempt to Urge Foxconn to Leave their China Deal
National Security Officials of Taiwan want to push Apple’s supplier, Foxconn, away from its $800 Million investment in the Chinese chipmaker Tsinghua Unigroup. The deal won’t go through but is a bold attempt by the Taiwanese government officials involved.
Taiwan has grown cautious of China’s ambition to boost the semiconductor sector in their country, especially since the world’s largest contract electronics maker is currently Taiwan. New laws have been implemented that many says make it appear as if China is stealing chip technology. Taiwan’s government prohibits companies from building their most advanced foundries in mainland of China.
Eric Trump claims Biden had to do with the FBI’s Raid of his Father’s Mar-A-Lago Home
Eric Trump has taken to Twitter to express his anger towards the FBI and the DOJ but may have gone a little too far in revealing how his father had the White House operates. Eric claims that President Joe Biden had to have approved the action to raid Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago house simply because “That’s how it worked when my father was in office.”
Many say that most presidents of the current era have taken extensive action to distance themselves from the DOJ operations with political implications. According to the White House, Joe Biden found out from the news of the raid, just like everybody else.
