Indications show a possible merger between EA and ESPN...
Microsoft has tentatively taken over Activision Blizzard and Ubisoft is also looking to sell in recent months. Next up on the chopping block is our household favorite game publisher EA as the company is holding talks with potential buyers such as Disney, Apple, and Amazon.
The entire report is based on Brian Roberts’ proposition to EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson. The proposition was a merge for EA with NBCUniversal that would give Roberts majority control of the company while Wilson retains his position as CEO.
Both sides eventually failed to come up with some sort of agreement. More details tied to the conversation found that EA may be looking to forge a “meaningful relationship” with Disney which indicates a possible merger between EA and ESPN.
“We are proud to be operating from a position of strength and growth, with a portfolio of amazing games, built around powerful IP, made by incredibly talented teams, and a network of more than half a billion players. We see a very bright future ahead.”
John Reeseburg, a spokesperson for EA said in a news release.
