Farmers are Turning to Killing their own Crops and Selling Livestock as Drought hits Harder than Expected

Nearly three-fourths of United States farmers are claiming this year’s drought is doing the most damage to their harvest. They’ve also voiced their concerns surrounding significant crop and income loss.

This year’s drought specifically is taking a harder toll on farmers than any other drought experienced. 37% of the farmers claim they’re currently plowing through and killing existing crops that won’t even reach maturity due to the conditions. This figure is up 24% from last year.

The month of July has been the third-hottest on record for the United States. The United States Department of Agriculture’s weekly weather and crop bulletin ended the week of Aug. 6th by reporting that "rapidly intensifying drought gripped the central and southern Plains and mid-South, depleting topsoil moisture and significantly stressing rangeland, pastures, and various summer crops."

Kenya’s new Presidential Elect to meet with United States Congressional Delegation Today

William Ruto, the newly elected President of Kenya, will meet with a United States congressional delegation today as his opponent will be filing a court challenge in the next few days. Meg Whitman, the new United States ambassador to Kenya, claims the delegation is led by Senator Chris Coons and will also be meeting with the outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila Odinga, William Ruto’s opponent, has claimed he will be “exploring all constitutional and legal options” in order to challenge his close election loss. The original debacle began as the electoral commission of Kenya publicly split before the minutes of the declaration when both commissioners accused each other of misconduct.

Japanese Officials meet with Chinese Officials concerning the “War Games” Occurring around Taiwan

Northern China was the hosting spot of a meeting between Chinese and Japanese officials as pressures continue to mount in the indo-pacific region. Japan has been an advocate against China and the military conducting its drills to intimidate Taiwan as the Chinese military fired missiles into Japan’s exclusive economic zone during one of the drills.

Yang Jiechi, the Senior Foreign Affairs Advisor, and Akiba Takeo, the head of Japan’s National Security Secretariat, met after the two countries previously canceled plans after Japan signed a statement criticizing the “war games” that were played with Taiwan earlier this month. Diplomatic protests have also been occurring against China’s firing of missiles into the exclusive economic zone during their drills.

One of the boasted aspects of the bill is that Medicare is able to negotiate prescription drug prices for the first time ever. For decades now, big Pharma has opposed any government regulation surrounding drug pricing and it seems as if this will continue to be the case, for some.

Some people, including experts, have voiced their opinion on the fact that they’re very skeptical that giving Medicare the ability to negotiate prices won’t be the game changer it’s being promoted to be. It is being deemed by these same individuals as “a good step” but is also said to “unlikely make a significant difference in how much seniors pay overall for medicine.”

Today a Court will Reveal the DOJ’s Evidence used to get Approval of Raiding Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Estate

Today a hearing will occur that holds the records of evidence given by the DOJ to secure court approval on a search warrant used to raid Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home as the centerpiece of discussion. Multiple people will be attempting to persuade the judge that the “public deserves to see the details.”

So far, the DOJ has been opposed to publically releasing the affidavit containing the evidence of probable cause used to raid the home in the first place. The raid of the home was a piece of a federal investigation into whether or not Donald Trump removed materials illegally as he left office in January 2021. The DOJ is currently investigating violations of three laws including a piece of the Espionage Act which prohibits the possession of national defense information.
