What does Tomorrow’s January 6th Hearing have in Store?
Political News
The January 6th investigations have been one for the records as we received bits and pieces of just how involved former President Donald Trump really was in the lead-up to the January 6th Capitol Riots. Bombshells, such as Cassidy Hutchinson and the now expected Steve Bannon, have really opened up the possibility of charging Donald Trump with federal crimes.
Tomorrow, the committee will be hosting Jason Van Tatenhove, a former spokesperson for the Oath Keepers. According to Zoe Lofgren, this is going to be another monumental testimony. She says, "We are going to be connecting the dots during these hearings between these groups and those who were trying — in government circles — to overturn the election. So, we do think that this story is unfolding in a way that is very serious and quite credible."
An Anti-Filibuster Crusade
Political News
AOC has recently been in the news for multitudes of controversy, this time, however, she’s mentioned due to a former aide of hers. Corbin Trent, the co-creator of Justice Democrats, and Brand New Congress launched a campaign to abolish the filibuster. Such a move is in hopes to weigh heavy pressures on center-left Senators such as Krysten Sinema and Joe Manchin who have both publically stated their disinterest in removing the filibuster.
One of the promises of the new campaign is a committee that has views to bombard the Senators into flipping their votes. It seems that this man has learned a thing or two from AOC’s extremism which is displayed in bits and pieces.
Ukraine says Russia “Isn’t taking an Operational Pause”
World News
In Chasiv Yar, search and rescue teams have been searching for individuals after a Russian missile strike on a group of residential buildings in the city. It is reported that nearly 15 people have been killed in the attack with the death toll likely to rise.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also denied the claims of Russia taking an “operational pause,” in the last week. The missile strike was an obvious indication of his doubt as well as stating that Russia is “repelling assaults in various directions.”
Another Week, Another U.S. Inflation Number
Economic News
In June, the CPI gauge rose upwards of 9% from a year earlier. This indicates a new 40-year high and compared to May, the CPI is rising by 1.1%. Such a rise will mark the third month in four with a minimum increase of 1%.
Recession concerns continue to mount even as Friday suggested strong job growth and a lowering of the unemployment rate (which is near a 50-year low). However, the continuation of recession concerns leaves it to be most evident that the Fed will raise its benchmark rate by 75bps once again for the second consecutive meeting. The meeting is set to take place on July 27th with no warnings or signs that price pressures will stabilize.
Senate Hopeful John Fetterment (PA) Trolls Dr. Oz
Political News
John Fetterman, the Democratic hopeful for the Pennslyvania Senate seat, set up a clever move to troll his opponent Mehmet Oz (Dr. Oz) as he was visiting New Jersey for the campaign.
A plane flew overhead which read “Hey Dr. Oz: Welcome home to New Jersey! - John.” An obvious attempt to get voters a little riled up.
“The banner will fly from Cape May to Brigantine on one of the biggest vacation weekends of the year. It will literally reach *thousands* of beachgoers at the shore, where so many Pennsylvania families go to vacation every year,” John Fetterman said.
