Gavin Newsom placed a full-page ad in Variety to ask all of Hollywood to “walk the walk” in terms of their values and avoid shooting movies, shows, commercials, or anything in states deemed to be “waging a cruel assault on essential rights."

The ad was shared by Gavin Newsom and it was paid for by the governor’s PAC alongside his announcement for extending the tax incentives for the film and tv industry. He has endorsed the SB 485 bill that would invest nearly $1.65 Billion into California’s Film and TV Tax Credit Program to extend it through 2030. With the new program, the industry in question will receive $330 Million per year in tax credits.

Extending the program is done in hopes of “ensuring California's world-renowned entertainment industry continues to drive economic growth with good jobs and a diverse, inclusive workforce,” according to Governor Newsom. Hollywood unions have praised the support of the bill.
