Greg Abbott received Harsh Criticism from Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador
"If there's a candidate from a party that mistreats immigrants and Mexicans, we're going to ask our countrymen there that they don't vote for that candidate or party."
Greg Abbott has received some harsh criticism from Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, Mexico’s President. He urged voters of Mexican descent to not vote for “anti-immigration candidates.” His words come after Greg Abbott said he had authorized the Texas National Guard and other state authorities to “apprehend” migrants and transport them to ports of entry on the border.
The policy has been deemed immoral by many people including President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. Many also speculate the policy was intended to attract more anti-immigration voters for the Texas November election - one in which Abbott is running for re-election.
"If there's a candidate from a party that mistreats immigrants and Mexicans, we're going to ask our countrymen there that they don't vote for that candidate or party."
President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador told reporters.
The worst part is that the move by Greg Abbott comes just a week before President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador comes to D.C. to meet with President Biden. A keen topic of discussion may be the undocumented immigration occurring at the United States-Mexico border which has been becoming a more politicized subject day by day.
