Israel Threatened for "Playing with Time" by Lebanon's Hezbollah Group
After Israeli ships were seen drilling for resources in the maritime zone, Hezbollah posted the video with the warnings of Israel playing with time...
Hezbollah, an armed Lebanon group, sent a video today that shows vessels involved in the Israeli offshore oil and gas industry. A simple video turned dark quickly as there were warnings that followed of “playing with time” as the group highlighted the threat of military escalation at a moment of the maritime border demarcation talks are ongoing.
The share of the maritime border is currently being negotiated between Lebanon and Israel with the United States mediating it. The discussion will help determine which oil and gas resources belong to who. Lebanese government officials have said they’re optimistic that the round of talks currently ongoing can end in a deal after years of on-and-off talks. Hezbollah, however, warned it is ready to stop Israel from extracting hydrocarbons from Lebanon.
In 2006, a short war took place between Hezbollah and Israel and since then, fire has been traded but never reached a larger confrontation. The video shared today was missed by Hezbollah’s War Media and contains images of Israeli ships involved in drilling.
Hassan Nasrallah, the Hezbollah leader, opens the video by warning that "Playing with time is not useful," and adds, “This message is a serious threat.”
According to Israeli government officials, a new proposal "includes a solution that would allow the Lebanese to develop the gas reserves in the disputed area while preserving Israel's commercial rights. The offer that has been relayed is a serious proposal that can transform Lebanon from a country of economic ruin and energy crises to a natural gas-producing country, by enabling it to cultivate this resource.”
