January 6th Hearings
A brief discussion and though piece....
Whether you comment or just think about the whole situation, I would like to present to everybody an “open floor” for discussing the second January 6th public hearing held yesterday.
During the first hearing, it was established that members of the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys believed they were called upon by Trump to help overturn the election of 2020 and then planned multiple pieces of the attack on the Capitol.
There was also a keen focus on the alleged inaction of Trump and his administration to even step in to stop the attack. The hearing consisted of testimony from various Proud Boy members, campaign officials, a documentary film director, and a Capitol police officer.

Yesterday’s hearing however focused on the allegations from Trump surrounding election fraud. Testimony was provided from campaign and administration officials. The hearing summarized the findings of the DOJ, election integrity officials, local election officials, court cases, and the intelligence community. All in all, there was no proof of election fraud.
Republican experts even reviewed and disproved the election fraud in more detail. The outcome of nearly 60+ court cases was reviewed and came the conclusion that the statements were delusionally absurd. Guliani’s license to practice law had been pointed out as expired/suspended. They also linked Trump's lies to fundraising fraud efforts after the supposedly stolen election.
The hearing closed out with more videos of Trump supporters saying they were there because they believed the election was stolen. Many of them continue to repeat the idea that Trump had “called upon them.”

In my opinion, we witnessed a parade of Trump appointees testify under oath that they had shown him proof that the election was not stolen. However, Trump continued to push for the idea that it was. Blindness is not a legal defense. The committee has also laid the predicate for the eventual Trump conviction. It was also found that Trump raised $250 Million by urging his most loyal followers to contribute to his "Election Defense Fund.” To no surprise, it turns out that no such fund even existed. Hey all, that’s wire fraud…
What do you all think?
Is the committee credible? Did they tell any falsehoods, or fail to provide relevant evidence?
Was the hearing persuasive? Will it change any minds?
Will there be any changes to election laws or other changes based on these hearings?
Will they impact the 2022 or 2024 elections?
