Judge Robert McBurney Blocks Subpoena Aimed at Burt Jones from Fulton County's Fani Willis
The case being made in Georgia is another of Trump's many serious cases...
A judge in Georgia has disqualified Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her office investigating Donald Trump and his attempt to overturn the 2020 election from investigating Georgia State Senator Burt Jones and his role as a “fake elector” who claimed Trump won the state.
But Jones had pleaded to disqualify the role of Fani Willis as a legal advisor in the case. Currently, Burt Jones is running for Lieutenant Governor while Fani Willis is a supporter of Charlie Baliey, Jones’ opponent.
"The court grants Senator Jones's motion to disqualify the District Attorney and her office - as to Senator Jones only.”
Robert McBurney, the Fulton County Superior Court Judge said in his ruling.
The special grand jury in Fulton County, Georgia is performing a criminal investigation into alleged wrongdoing. It is one of the many serious cases Trump is facing due to his phone call pressuring a top Georgia official to “find” votes in order to overturn Biden’s win in the state.
For 11 other “fake electors,” the Judge refused to disqualify their subpoenas. He said at the time that the fundraiser was reflecting poor judgment on the attorney’s part and added he would add rulings later. Judge McBurney said, "It's a 'What were you thinking?' moment. The optics are horrific."
