Kurt Campell claims the Chinese Government has Overreacted to Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan
"China has overreacted and its actions continue to be provocative, destabilizing, and unprecedented."
Kurt Campell, the United States Indo-Pacific coordinator said that China has overreacted to the visit to Taiwan by Nancy Pelosi. Kurt Campell went further to say that Taiwan has used the visit to attempt to change the status quo in the situation between Taiwan and China. The presence of the United States and the posture it continues to have even as China continues to apply military pressure is the reasoning behind the “destabilizing behavior of China,” according to Kurt Campell.
"China has overreacted and its actions continue to be provocative, destabilizing, and unprecedented. It has not ended and we expect it to continue to unfold in the coming weeks and months.”
Kurt Campbell said.
Tsai Ing-wen, the Taian President, said that the threats coming from China are undiminished. Kurt Campell continued on to reiterate that the United States would conduct standard air and maritime transits through the dangerous Taiwan Strait in the upcoming weeks into the next few months.
"And we will ensure that our presence, posture and exercise account for China's more provocative and destabilizing behavior, with a view towards guiding the situation in the western Pacific towards greater stability.”
Kurt Campell concluded.
