A Former Lawyer Warned Trump of the “Perils” of keeping Government Materials at Mar-a-Lago

Political News

A former lawyer working under the Trump admissions claims he warned the former president last year of the legal liability he could face if he did not return the government materials he took to Mar-a-Lago. There have been three sources familiar with the matter who confirm that Eric Hershcmann did in fact warn Trump of the seriousness surrounding the issue.

The newly surfaced report of such a conversation is the latest piece of evidence that Donald Trump had been informed of the legal troubles he could potentially face by holding on to the materials which now are the main issue concerning an investigation by the DOJ.

House Democrats will Vote on Changes to the Electoral Count Act

Political News

The House will be voting this week concerning changes to a law verifying presidential elections. According to many, this is the strongest legislative response to the January 6th Capitol Riots and the GOP’s effort of overturning the 2020 presidential election. The overhaul of the Electoral Count Act is said to happen as soon as tomorrow.

Mike Pence refused to perform his acts under the law of going against the election. However, it was clearly stated after the debacle that there was no real legal framework to respond under the law for Mike Pence at the time.

Luhansk and Donetsk Vote to Join Russia this Week

World News

Leaders of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, both currently Russian-controlled, will hold a vote to determine whether or not they become a part of Russia. Dmitry Medvedev said that the “folding of Luhansk and Donetsk would make the redrawn frontiers irreversible and enable Russia to use any means to defend them.”

Chances are that the vote goes in favor of Russia. However, many Western countries have made claims that they would not recognize the vote.

Stock Markets are not taking Kindly to the Word of Fed Officials

Economic News

It is becoming abundantly clear that the Fed is no help to the stock market. On June 15th, Jerome Powell, the Federal Reserve Chairman, said, “Over the course of this year, financial markets have responded and have generally shown that they understand the path we're laying out.” After so, the S&P 500 crashed by more than 20% from highs in January.

Neel Kashkari, the Minneapolis Fed President, stated a similar context as Powell by saying that he was “happy to see the stock market fall.” Powell eventually added that he is “committed to fighting inflation” even if it caused “some pain to households and businesses.”

Legislation to Increase Local Police Department’s Funding has hit a Snag

Political News

Due to a growing Democratic division within the House, a piece of legislation that would increase local police department funding has hit a roadblock. The move initially comes as Democrats wish to appear “less soft” on crime before the midterms. Nancy Pelosi has pledged for weeks now to bring the package to the forefront.

However, the packages have hit a snag as Democrats in conservative-leaning districts have become mired by the internal feuds concerning crime politics.
