Senator Lindsey Graham’s lawyers have stated they will be challenged the subpoena sent by the special grand jury in Georgia requiring Graham to testify against Trump in an investigation of aiding in efforts to overrule the 2020 election.

Bart Daniel and Matt Austin, Lindsey Graham’s lawyers, released a statement in which they said the hearing in which Graham was subpoenaed to is “all politics.” The statement read, “Senator Graham plans to go to court, challenge the subpoena, and expects to prevail.”

Lindsey Graham isn’t the only Trump ally to be subpoenaed by the special grand jury. District Attorney Fani Willis has dismissed the allegations that her investigation is just motivated by politics saying that America "doesn’t understand the seriousness of what we’re doing." One of the incidents heavily being investigated by Willis and her court is the post-election phone call Lindsey Graham made to Brad Raffensperger, the Georgia Secretary of State in November of 2020.

“Graham made at least two phone calls to Raffensperger and his staff. During the telephone calls, [Graham] questioned Secretary Raffensperger and his staff about reexamining certain absentee ballots cast in Georgia in order to explore the possibility of a more favorable outcome for former President Donald Trump. [Graham] also made reference to allegations of widespread voter fraud in the November 2020 election in Georgia, consistent with public statements made by known affiliates of the Trump Campaign.”

Lindsey Graham has denied pressuring Raffensperger into attempting to overturn the election. Graham testified under subpoena before the jury last month and called the allegations “ridiculous.” The investigation subpoena sent from Willis’s office stated that Lindsey Graham is not the “subject nor target of the investigation, simply a witness."

"Fulton County is engaged in a fishing expedition and working in concert with the January 6 Committee. Any information from an interview or deposition with Senator Graham would immediately be shared with the January 6 Committee.
As Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Graham was well within his rights to discuss with state officials the processes and procedures around administering elections. Should it stand, the subpoena issued today would erode the constitutional balance of power and the ability of a Member of Congress to do their job.”
