The man, identified as Dennis Butler, was killed on Wednesday night after pilling a gun and shooting at dozens of people attending a birthday-graduation party outside an apartment complex in Charleston. The woman then drew a pistol and shot Dennis Butler.

“Instead of running from the threat, she engaged with the threat and saved several lives last night.”
Tony Hazelett, Chief of Detectives, said.

Dennis Butler is assumed to have shot at the party goers in a sense of retaliation as it is said he previously was warned to slow down while driving around earlier in the evening. After being told to watch out for the children while speeding around, he later returned and opened fire.

The woman waited with other witnesses until the police arrived and have been very cooperative with the investigation. Hazelett has stated no charges will be filed against the woman.
