Mike Pence has announced that the Republican officials attacking and threatening the FBI, due to its raid of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, should support federal law enforcement. The former Vice President also gave an indication that if needed, he would consider testifying in front of the January 6th House Committee. He claimed, “If there was an invitation to participate, I would consider it.”
Bennie Thompson, the Chairman of the January 6th Committee, has said that the door is wide open for Mike Pence and that there have been previous discussions surrounding the possibility. However, neither side has indicated to which point in the pipeline these talks currently sit.
Further in his speech, Mike Pence broke gave his opinion on the Republicans attacking the FBI saying, “These attacks on the FBI must stop. Calls to defund the FBI are just as wrong as calls to defund the police.” Following the raid, Donald Trump was met with a slew of support from certain Republican officials. The support has cooled as some Republicans have taken it just a bit too far.
Mike Pence’s speech and his comments come as he continues to tease the idea of a run for the presidency in 2024.
