Many Americans would already tell you were aren’t in the shabbiest of economic periods. The government may tell you differently. However, a poll released yesterday finds that a whopping 2% of Americans consider the economy in “excellent” condition under President Biden. The survey was conducted in the first half of April (April 1-19) and contacted 1,018 adults and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.

"Four in five U.S. adults rate current economic conditions in the country as only fair (38%) or poor (42%), with few describing conditions as excellent (2%) or good (18%). Furthermore, 76% of Americans say the economy is getting worse, 20% say it is improving, and 3% think it is staying the same."
The survey found as the general consensus on the current economy.

When asked what the most important problems in the U.S. respondents who chose “non-economic problems” as the most important also chose “the government/poor leadership” at 20% as the U.S.’s biggest issue. Doesn’t the government/poor leadership negatively affect the economy making it an economic issue? I digress…

The other non-economic issues didn’t tip the scale of double digits with respondents voting for immigration as the second most important non-economic problem.

The Gallup poll supposedly “regularly tracks Americans” ratings of economic conditions as excellent, good, only fair, or poor, as well as their views on the outlook for the economy.

The Gallup Economic Confidence Index has been created from the combined responses and has a theoretical range of +100 to -100. The resulting -39 Economic Confidence Index mirrors the same numbers of last month but above the record low of -72 which was recorded in October 2008 - the time in which our economy collapsed…

Not only was the ECI rating in the negative for April so far, but it has been negative since July 2021. Americans have watched inflation rock middle-class homes. In addition to the inflation, more people are worried about the high fuel prices.
