North Korea turns Down another Round of Economic Offerings from South Korea
"Thinking that the idea of exchanging our national core nuclear with 'economic cooperation is a dream, hope, and initiative of Yoon Suk-yeol, I cannot help but think he is really innocent and young."
Kim Jong Un’s powerful sister, Kim Yo Jong, said that North Korea will never aim to work with the South Korean initiative which would boost the North’s economy in exchange for giving up a handful of nuclear weapons. In May, Yoon Suk-yeol, the South Korean President, said that his country was "prepared to work with the international community to present an audacious plan that will vastly strengthen North Korea's economy and improve the quality of life for its people."
The willingness to provide a phased economic aid package to North Korea has been reiterated once again. An exchange of North Korea’s nuclear weapon development and a start to denuclearization was requested once again.
In a KCNA statement, Kim Yo Jong stated that such a plan was “ignorant and the height of folly far from realization.” She added, “The premise of if North Korea takes denuclearisation measures itself is wrong.”
"Thinking that the idea of exchanging our national core nuclear with 'economic cooperation is a dream, hope, and initiative of Yoon Suk-yeol, I cannot help but think he is really innocent and young. If the 'audacious initiative' doesn't work, I don't know with what kind of wild plan he will knock on our door, but I am making it clear that we will never deal with it."
