The world of technology is diving deeper than making faster cars, faster computers, etc. A team of scientists from the College of AI at Nankai University in China has developed pig clones. Not your ordinary pig clones, however. The team developed a fully automated method for creating the clones and for the first time they birthed seven healthy cloned pigs from a surrogate mother without ANY HUMAN INTERVENTION.

Currently, China holds the crown as the biggest pork producer and consumer in the world. Now this will put the country even further ahead. The pig population in the country is estimated to be nearly 400 million + with consumption being 66 and 77 pounds per capita. The stock of pork in the country is never enough to meet demand and this is why China has always needed to import tons of pork each year. In 2021, the county bought 3.31 million metric tons of pork…

One of the scientists, Liu Yaowei, believes the automation cloning method can significantly increase the pig population as well as make the country self-sufficient in the preferred protein choice.
