President Biden Proposes Negotiates surrounding a New Nuclear Arms Control Framework leaving Russian Officials Confused
"Is this a serious statement or has the White House website been hacked? If this is still a serious intention, with whom exactly do they intend to discuss it?"
The Russian foreign ministry has indicated confusion based on President Biden’s proposal to negotiate a new nuclear arms control framework to replace the New START Treaty when it expires in 2026. In his statement, President Biden said he and his administration are ready to negotiate a new framework but Russia should demonstrate its readiness to work on it.
"Is this a serious statement or has the White House website been hacked? If this is still a serious intention, with whom exactly do they intend to discuss it?"
The Russian foreign ministry said.
In 2011, the New START Treaty was created for the United States and Russia to limit deployed intercontinental missiles, submarine-launched missiles, and deployed heavy bomber equipment in use for nuclear armaments.
Limits on nuclear warheads have also been placed on the deployed missiles and bombers. Both the United States and Russia reached a central limit by February 5th, 2018 and the treaty has since been extended throughout 2025 ending in February of 2026.
