President Biden Tests Positive for Covid again after Testing Negative Multiple Days in a Row
According to the White House doctor, it is an instance of a rebound case...
Joe Biden has once again tested positive for Covid just several days after a negative test (multiple days in a row).
"After testing negative on Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, Thursday morning, and Friday morning, the President tested positive late Saturday morning, by antigen testing. This in fact represents 'rebound' positivity.”
Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the White House physician, said.
President Biden has not experienced any terrible symptoms and Dr. O’Conner says, "This being the case, there is no reason to reinitiate treatment at this time, but we will obviously continue close observation." Biden is double boosted and tested positive for Covid on July 21.
Around 1% to 2% of people taking Paxlovid (the medication being taken by Biden) have tested positive for Covid after having tested negative. The rebound rates are around 5% among tens of thousands of people who’ve taken the drug. The CDC warned of recurrences in May and warned people who test positive again may still be contagious and should isolate again.
Biden stated, "Folks, today I tested positive for COVID again. This happens with a small minority of folks. I’ve got no symptoms but I am going to isolate myself for the safety of everyone around me. I’m still at work and will be back on the road soon.”
