Robert Costello, Steve Bannon's Lawyer, asks Judge for a Dismissal of Bannon's January 6th Contempt Case Trial

Steve Bannon’s lawyer, Robert Costello, is working to defend him against contempt charges over his refusal to work with the House Committee investigating the January 6th capitol riots. Bannon’s lawyer today asked to withdraw from the case. The request was made to the United States District Judge Carl Nichols in a federal court in Washington. Bannon’s trial is set to begin in nearly a week on July 18.
“If the Court decides to prevent me from testifying, there will be no pathway to inform the Jury about the communications with the Select Committee or the three prosecutors in this case.”
Robert Costello said.
Steve Bannon was indicted in November on two counts of contempt of Congress as the former Trump advisor refused to follow subpoenas from the House Select Committee. Bannon stated previously that he relied in good faith on Robert Costello’s advice surrounding the subpoenas. Carl Nichols however ruled that he could not make that case to the jury.
