Will the Democrats Leverage the GOP’s calls to “Defund the FBI” for the Midterms?
Political News
Multiple prominent Republican figures have been calling to defund the police after the raid of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. Many people have found that such calls appear to be contradicting the normal calls of defending the United States and its “law and order” and backing police officers. Levels of threats against law enforcement, the FBI specifically, haven’t reached this point since the 1990s.
The Democrats have taken advantage of such a situation with just 80 days left before the midterm elections in November. The “defund the police” slogan was dragged in political campaigns against the Democrats previously. Republicans would claim that those on the left were just “soft on crime.” However, now the Democrats have turned it around and the call to “defund the FBI” shows the Republican extremes of “ultra-MAGA.”

Non-farm payrolls are even expected to be 300,000 for the month of August. These figures are set to serve as a key role in the Fed’s next decision in deciding policies moving forward. However, the Fed seemed to stumble a bit after Jerome Powell mentioned his willingness to accept a softening labor market in exchange for mitigating inflation.
His [Powell’s] speech led to the market shedding, almost all three major exchanges dropped to four-week lows.
Continued Skepticism Surrounding a Liz Cheney Presidential Run in 2024
Political News
After a loss in her Wyoming Primary, Liz Cheney stated that it was a “more consequential step” in her career. She cited the fact that Abraham Lincoln lost elections for the House and Senate yet still went on to win the Presidency. However, unlike Lincoln, multiple supporters of Liz Cheney have voiced their opinions on her potential run to block Donald Trump and the toxic GOP from winning the presidency.
In Iowa, South Carolina, and New Hampshire specifically, multiple Republican party members feel as if Liz Cheney has a very small path to relevancy in a 2024 presidential bid. Some people have voiced their conc that she would in fact help Trump gain a victory instead of taking it away.
