Senator Romney warns against the Newest Democratic Strategy to win Primaries across the Nation
Democrats have been spending to boost GOP candidates deemed Trump loyalists. A plan that can backfire...
According to Senator Mitt Romney, the Democrats should be on the watch for the backfire that can come from boosting election-denying candidates in the GOP primaries. He said, “It’s not illegal but it sure is stupid. Be careful what you wish for. You may select somebody who actually wins and then you hurt the country as well as your own party.”
Mitt Romney has been one of the most vocal critics of GOP efforts to push the election denying. He is also the only Republican Senator to vote to impeach Donald Trump.
What Romney is speaking about is the fact that the Democratic Party has sent millions of dollars to states such as California, Maryland, and Illinois in an attempt to boost GOP primary candidates who are constantly promoting lies such as the 2020 election being rigged in hopes that people see how crazy they are. The strategy has recently come under fire from not only Democrats but the opposing Republicans as well.
Democrats have taken the criticism as people blaming them for the Republicans pushing the election denialism and other extreme positions. According to the Democrats deploying the strategy, these tactics are necessary to stop the GOP.
“No Republican running is willing to say Donald Trump should not be their nominee. Every Republican is flirting with the Big Lie. The crisis our country faces is not any individual Republican, but an entire party embracing and defending groups attacking democracy itself.
Until they muster the courage to speak truth to their primary voters, they don’t have a leg to stand on.”
Marshall Cohen, the political director of the Democratic Governors’ Association, said.
One of the examples backing what Mitt Romney has warned about is in Colorado. Heidi Ganahl, a supposed moderate, won the primary despite the desperate attempt made by the Democratic party to boost a more conservative challenger. Adding to the wound, Ganahl chose an election denier who has consistently claimed the election was stolen by Democrats as her running mate.
Maryland is also another example. Democrats in the state spent nearly $1 Million boosting Dan Cox. The ad that has been paid for details Dan Cox’s ties to Trump, his opposition to gun reform, and his support for abortion bans across the nation. However, many have argued that advertising allows for an effective form of publicity for Cox to the GOP voters.
States such as Pennsylvania, Arizona, and once again Colorado, have all experienced Democrat boosting. The spending may be the reason why Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania is not only trailing by a measly amount. Remember, Doug Mastriano was literally found on the steps of the Capitol during the January 6th Riots.
