Sticker Shock will be Sure to Beat Travelers down this Summer
Domestic and International flights are all much higher than pre-pandemic times...
It was recently reported that Memorial Day weekend would be the most expensive weekend for travelers within the United States. Well, we have even better news - It’ll be that way all summer!
Monster crowds are expected at many places as restrictions and pandemic fatigue has eased. Many forecasters even believe the number of travelers will match or exceed pre-pandemic days. Airlines however have THOUSANDS fewer employees than they did in 2019.
For those of you who are only now booking travel accommodations, get ready to experience some sticker shock…
According to travel data from Hopper, domestic airline fares for summer are averaging more than $400 a round trip. This is nearly 25% higher than the same time in 2019 and an astounding 45% higher than a year ago.

Not only are domestic fares up, but so are international. Not as bad with only being up 10% from 2019. Prices to Europe are about 5% cheaper than before the pandemic with an average round trip costing $868.
