The Chechens have Threatened another War on Russian Soil
Vladimir Putin may soon be facing another war, but on his home turf...
Not only is Russia invading Ukraine at the moment, but Vladimir Putin and Russia may be headed toward another war front, but this time in Russia.
The Chechen Battalion is preparing a second offensive move against Russia in support of Ukraine. Islam Belokiev, the spokesman for the Sheikh Mansur Battalion, said, “We know the enemy’s positions, where Russian military bases are. We have divided the Chechen Republic of Icheriya into three fronts and 16 sectors."
The Chechen resistance to Russian rule isn’t anything new and dates back centuries since its calling for independence some 30 years ago. Boris Yelstin once signed a peace treaty that granted broad autonomy but his hatred for Vladimir Putin caused a decade-long war to break out after he also voided the treaty.
"We will pursue the terrorists everywhere. If we catch them on the toilet, we will wipe them out in the outhouse."
Vladimir Putin said in reference to the group.
Rebekah Koffler, a Russian expert and former intelligence officer in Russian doctrine and strategy for the Defense Intelligence Agency claimed, "The possibility of them taking advantage of Putin’s forces being tied up in Ukraine to assert their independence is very plausible.”
“It would at least make Putin and the Russians believe that they will have to divert their attention and take eyes off Ukraine, so Ukrainians could launch a counter-offensive. That’s very clever."
She added.
