TikTok is now Supreme in a Key Metric
TikTok just beat YouTube in this key metric: Average watch time...
TikTok has been destroying competition. Just in April, social media witnessed its ad revenue skyrocket. Ad revenue, in general, is expected to be more than $11 Billion which would exceed the combined sales of Twitter and Snapchat, according to research firm Insider Intelligence.
Another win for TikTok occurred when eMarketer compared the average time spent on the top social platforms by United States adults and the findings show TikTok has surpassed YouTube. Users on TikTok spent an average of 45.8 minutes whereas on YouTube, users spent 45.6 minutes.
This is no surprise. In February, TikTok added to its threatening aspects against YouTube by extending video length limits from 3 minutes to 10 and has also announced a new revenue sharing program. In response, earlier this year, YouTube’s Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan announced some advancements that would be coming to YouTube which were assumed to be centered around its answers to TikTok’s growth.
Instagram was another social media company demolished by TikTok. Even as Instagram has begun to transfer into generic TikTok, it has accounted for an average of 30.1 minutes per day of usage and Facebook had the same. Twitter users averaged 34.8 minutes, Snapchat users averaged 30.4 minutes, and Reddit had an average usage of 23.8 minutes per day.
We should all pay attention to the fact that TikTok has around 1 Billion monthly users while YouTube averages upwards of 2.6 Billion monthly users…
