Donald Trump’s former fundraiser giant, Tom Barrack — also a former private equity executive — has requested that evidence of his wealth, lifestyle, and spending be excluded from his upcoming trial. The trial comes as he has been charged with acting as an illegal foreign agent.

Tom Barrack has been charged with using his influence between the years of 2016 and 2018 to push for an advanced UAE foreign policy goal without notifying the United States AG of his involvement. In the court filing, the defense team of Tom Barack accused the prosecutors of seeking to introduce evidence that would “improperly appeal to jurors ‘class bias’ against wealthy people.”

“Photographs of his personal property and other details are unduly prejudicial and have no place in this trial. Evidence of too many summer homes would be highly relevant if Mr. Barrack wee on trial for his success, but he is not.

If anything, the level of success Mr. Barrack attained through a lifetime of laborious efforts cuts against the government's contention that he would abruptly risk it all, at seventy years old, to become an agent of a foreign power.”

Tom Barrack’s lawyers wrote.

After being arrested in 2021 and released on a massive bond, he has stepped down from being the chief executive of private equity firm DigitalBridge Group Inc.

Mr. Barrack and his lawyer are right... his economic status should be excluded from the trial. The trial should solely be about whether it can be proven that he was acting on behalf of a foreign government.
