"This is perhaps the biggest challenge since World War Two for the world, and it continues to be completely new in cyberspace.”
Victor Zhora, Ukraine’s deputy head of Special Communications Service, made a surprise stop at a “Black Hat” convention in Las Vegas’ golden casino. The convention was told by Victor Zhora that Ukraine itself has been hit triple the number of times in the last few months than usual due to Russian hackers.
"This is perhaps the biggest challenge since World War Two for the world, and it continues to be completely new in cyberspace.”
Victor Zhora said.
Cyberspace has been a major issue for Ukraine since the end of March to now. The discovery of the “Idustroyer2” malware was one made during this time as well. The malware is used to manipulate equipment in electrical utilities to control power flow. Russian hackers have also implemented cyberattacks that have taken down regional satellite internet services. According to Victor Zhora, nearly 1,600 “major cyber incidents” have been intercepted by Ukraine.
Pro Bono cloud computing services have been offered to the Ukrainian government by companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. Some of the data archives within Ukraine are being held within data centers across a few countries.
