Upwards of 700 Contracted Soldiers are Attempting to Leave a Russian Brigade
Some have contracts that have expired in May and have not been able to leave. Others mention instances of receiving orders to kill civilians and loot homes...
According to a Russian news site, almost 700 contracted soldiers from the 64th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade are purposefully attempting to fail in tasks and more just to get fired and leave Ukraine. However, they’ve yet to accomplish the goal. So far, those serving in the brigade have claimed the Russian military refuses to withdraw them from their territory in Ukraine. Some have explained that their contracts expired in May and they too have yet to be withdrawn.
Some of the contracted soldiers have fleed in an attempt to head to their military unit for their money in order to write up a resignation letter there. According to some of the soldiers, a commander in charge of the brigade will try to persuade soldiers to stay by promising to increase their salary from 90 to 120 thousand rubles a month.
"It is unreal. There are checkpoints everywhere. Conscientious objectors who left had their reports signed by their deputy commander. Our command won’t sign it. The command doesn’t give a fuck about all the servicemen".
One of the interviewed soldiers said.
The soldier who was interviewed also indicated that there have been ordered killings of civilians. Another soldier who was interviewed mentioned an instance in which soldiers shot from 3 to 4 cars with civilians in them after receiving orders to do so. Furthermore, it has been said that looting of civilian homes is a common occurrence as well.
