Vladimir Putin Enacts Law to give Ukrainians Fleeing to Russia Financial Benefits
Putin detailed a benefits program that would give a monthly payment of 10,000 Rubles — or $170 — to people who have been forced to leave Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin has been signing multiple decrees this week and has added another one this morning as the Russian President signed a decree that would give financial benefits to people leaving Ukraine to come to Russia. Those eligible for the benefits include pensioners, disabled people, and pregnant women.
Putin detailed a benefits program that would give a monthly payment of 10,000 Rubles — or $170 — to people who have been forced to leave Ukraine. Pregnant women have been listed as entitled to a one-off benefit. The citizens of Ukraine will receive payments as well as individuals in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.
Russian passports are also being given out to Ukrainians. The United States and Ukraine have both given harsh criticism to the push, stating that it is an “illegal effort” by Russia to annex more territory it has occupied.
