What does the Unsealing of the DOJ's Mar-a-Lago Search Warrant Reveal of the DOJ's Objectives and the GOP's Claim of Political Persecution?
Think Piece/Open Discussion
A statement was released today by Merrick Garland, the United States Attorney General, defending the integrity of the DOJ and the FBI as well as confirming he has signed off on the search warrant used in the raiding of the as well as a judge. The statement also indicates that the Department of Justice will be moving to unseal the search warrant and receipt to offer greater transparency into the DOJ’s and the FBI’s legal rationale.
The FBI’s search of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home has been criticized by Trump himself as well as many other Republicans stating it was a politically motivated event. There has been no legitimate claim that the search was a politicized move of judgment. It could be an attempt to just give Trump cover.
Donald Trump has had five years to learn the rules surrounding classified data and he acted as if he was an expert when he spoke on locking up Hillary Clinton. This makes him taking the confidential papers unacceptable as well as defending the process he has completed. When the archivists asked Donald Trump to hand over the papers, he ignored them. He is then subpoenaed and he turns over half of the papers.
The National Archives as well as the general United States government continued to push the discussions and send formal rehear letters to Donald Trump which he then ignored. Every step has been taken to keep the whole ordeal on the low, however, Donald Trump has obstructed it.
When the warrant was executed, they did it early in the morning, and when Donald Trump wasn’t there. They made it very discreet or at least as much as they could until Donald Trump began sending out messages. If somebody wanted to politicize this ordeal, they would not have given so many opportunities to keep it quiet. Donald Trump literally broke the law that he specifically increased penalties for…
He made his own actions a felony which in turn shows what justice looks like — politics don’t play a part. I believe people need to look at how disingenuous the argument from the Republicans is, and I hope it changes their perspective a bit.
Nope. He did not break the law and he still has a security clearance that allows him to have classified documents.
This is an attempt to whitewash the harassment of a former President, admittedly a former President that I loathe.
