White House still adds no Comment to Elon Musk's Purchase of Twitter
Yet, they still advocate for the revoking of Section 230, an issue Elon Musk plans to fix...
After Elon Musk completed his deal with Twitter on Monday to purchase the company the White Hous declined to comment.
However, President Biden has shown a log term concern about the power of social media and those on the platform. Jen Psaki reiterated the concerns of Biden and a few other political figures by stating “our concerns are not new. The president has long talked about his concerns surrounding the power of social media platforms including Twitter and others to spread information.”
With all the social media debacle and the chase for freedom of speech, the White House continues to pursue the revoking of Section 230 - a law that would shield online companies from liability over content posted by users and supporters ramping up anti-trust and transparency enforcement on technology companies.
The biggest concern is the spreading of false information on political issues and the Covid pandemic. In my opinion, who cares. Individuals should have the right to form their own opinion on the bullshit people spews on social media. Government and big corporations DO NOT need to lead the people’s thoughts.
"We engage regularly with all social media platforms about steps that can be taken. That has continued, and I'm sure will continue, but there are also reforms that we think Congress could take."
