Why are the Republicans so Invested into the Hunter Biden Laptop Story
Think Piece/Open Discussion
Take a quick second to look at any conservative website or video programming and you’ll find that the Hunter Biden laptop story, as well as the claim of it being “unfairly suppressed” (which in reality, it kinda was) by the mainstream media in the leading months of the 2020 presidential election, is still a massive talking point. If the GOP retakes Congress during the midterms this November, it is almost guaranteed that it will become an even larger talking point.
The whole story sums up the fact that Hunter Biden is a piece of shit son of the sitting President who is alleged to have exploited his connections with this father for personal gain and potentially illegally kicking back some of the money to President Biden himself.
Hunter Biden and his forbidden laptop remain a massive point of conversation due to the belief that the GOP feels the story wasn’t given a fair investigatory look by the press and others as they’d do for any Donald Trump story or a story pertaining to his adult children. The double standard in their view means that the only way the story lives is if they bring it up at any chance they can.
There’s no doubt that it was unfairly presented by the press at such a crucial time in politics. Even Mark Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook only gave a limited amount of time for the story to circulate the app before it would mark it as misinformation citing that he [Zuckerberg] had yet to know if it had been “confirmed to be true.” Regardless, who is it that you think the Republican party is so invested in the Hunter Biden laptop story? Why not move on? What does it say about the party?
On the flip side of things, what does the story say of the mainstream media that it is uninterested in such a story coming from a close relative of the President where in the past they have pounced on most stories involving the adult children of the sitting President?
One thing we can all try to explain is the GOP political strategy. In some people’s view, it is to take an opponent’s perceived strength and turn it into a weakness, or at least attempt to. Prime example: Al Gore. He was one of the most technologically aware Senators in the United States. The Internet would not exist if Al Gore had not taken the legislative initiative and advanced it through Congress. Just want to make clear, that the internet WOULD have existed, just not as we have it today — I digress.
The Republicans decided to create the lie that Al Gore was taking credit. To their advantage, people looked at Al Gore as not being up to speed with modern technology, but as being a credit hogger.
Another example we can cite is John Kerry. He is a decorated Vietnam veteran who was running against George Bush, who some may know, dodged service in Vietnam by volunteering for a branch of the Texas air national guard that pretty much just existed to help rich people keep their kids away from the jungle of Vietnam. As Iraq and the war going on there was a large talking point of the election at the time, the GOP undercut John Kerry’s military record, swiftboated him, and claimed he was a “baby killer” to ultimately take away any advantage he might have had.
For President Biden, it isn’t anything relative to the examples given. Hunter Biden was a cocaine addict who was also addicted to prostitutes and other drugs. Eventually, when the laptop got out, his full range of addictions was on full display for the whole country, however, nobody bit. One thing is though, Joe Biden has always been seen as a “good family man with a tragic history.” Due to this, attacking Hunter Biden does two things:
It helps them [GOP] chip away at the idea that Joe Biden is a good family man
it allows them [GOP] to distract away the fact that Jared Kusher is sitting on top of the $2 BIllion he got from a Saudia Arabian transaction for his hedge fund
It seems that as long as you have something on the other guy that you can continuously point to and castigate them for it, you’ll never have to actually own any of the heinous shit that Donald Trump has done or that any other sitting GOP member has done and continues to do.
