Why does Democratic Messaging Suck and What can be Changed

Currently, there are multiple hands in the pot when it comes to being “in charge” of Democratic messaging. In effect, every single one of those people working in Congress, Governor positions, and even the Mayors of major cities play a massive role due to them having a giant hypothetical megaphone. They don’t need party approval to use these megaphones either.

How many times has Joe Biden run for president? His first attempt was more than 30 years ago

When people criticize the messaging of a party, they’re speaking about the President more times than not. Just due to the fact that he is the de facto head of the party and has the largest platform for messaging. Now, it isn’t as simple as just looking through past messaging strategies and seeing what worked. The country has routinely faced more, new, and evolving novel problems. For example, we can’t look back at the messaging from the last five times we passed gun control or attempted to.

To make things a bit more complicated, President Biden or any other president to come and go isn’t a dictator. Not even to the party members of the Democratic party… Politicians tend to be very independent and if they have different agendas, they’ll speak on them. An example is if one faction of the Democratic party believes culture war issues are alienating moderate voters and they need to slow down on it (look at the Virginia governor race), and then at the same time, Democrats also push for terms such as “birthing persons.”

President Biden is also not an effective public speaker. The Democratic party has no charismatic face to carry the banner. I can't speak for everyone, but I strongly suspect this is, in large part, why so many people are excited for guys like California Governor Gavin Newsom. There’s nothing genuinely special about his platform, but the idea is that Newsom DOES NOT SUCK AT MESSAGING. Same idea with Bernie Sanders gaining more support than Elizabeth Warren despite having 99% of the same platform.

It seems that what you need is a solid candidate, or some voice of the party, that if you played a 30-second clip of said person, you would instantly “get it.” This is the story for Bernie Sanders (he will continue to lose following his socialist views), Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and admittedly, even Donald Trump…
