It seems pretty obvious to some and to others it isn’t. However, my observation is that Republicans tend to be very consistent on things such as:

  • Government spending

  • Guns

  • Free Market

  • More

You can say that many GOP officials have different beliefs, but even then the range of how many different ideas exist in total is still very much narrow.

On the flip side, Democrats tend to be different when it comes to certain issues. Some Democrats favor things like a Norway healthcare system, while others favor things such as price caps (insulin is what I am using as an example). Some Democrats support massive funding to police departments, while others wish and push to fund police less and less YOY.

I understand that overall, the Democrats are centrist but have gotten more progressive and left-wing. What I am generally saying is that there are just so many viewpoints with less consistency on issues compared to Republicans.

Why is there a bigger difference between AOC and Joe Manchin than there is between Liz Cheney and Marjorie Taylor Greene? Both individuals on both sides are the extreme ends of each party.

In my opinion, the problem may come down to viewing what each party represents when it comes to the terms upon which they agree. As a Republican, it is easier to agree on what you want to conserve and it is harder to agree on the things you want to change. On the flip side is where we experience more angst amongst moderates and progressives about the changes that need to be made. Some of the individuals representing the party are more socially liberal and fiscally conservative, while others within the same party are both socially liberal and economically left.

What do you think is the reason for this? Do you believe there is even a difference?
