You'll be able to get a PS5 now as Sony Promises Production Boost
Sony promises to get their production up to levels “never achieved before.”
I haven’t seen a PS5 on shelves since I don’t even know when. The situation hasn’t been fixed with Sony’s promises, time, and restocks either. Hope seems to be looming however as Sony promises to get their production up to levels “never achieved before.”
Sony confirmed the priority at one of its investor briefings. It claimed that PS5 production will increase and Sony even said it expects to close the gap between PS4 and PS5 sales. Sony blamed the shortage on supply chain issues, which is a given. The inability to receive chips and other components meant the company was physically limited to producing consoles.
Supply chain issues are easing up however and this gives hope to Sony that it will translate to increased PS5 production. The company still has concerns surrounding the impact the Russian invasion of Ukraine might have but Sony is looking to diversify its supplier base “for greater agility in unstable market conditions.”
Jim Ryan, the Sony CEO, has confirmed the plans to heavily increase production as well. Buying a PS5 can now be just as easy as getting any other console as Sony attempts to flood the markets. Because demand is so insane, it will still require people to use trackers and have people ready to buy as soon as stock is available.
At the same meeting, Sony also outlined its plans for a stronger presence on PC and mobile platforms by 2025.
